November 19th is Get A Pal For Your Pet Day! Many of our animal friends are very sociable, and love having buddies to play with. It’s always really cute watching two pups frolicking around together, or seeing Fluffy and Mittens cuddled up for a nap. But is getting another pet right for you? Benefits

Separation anxiety is quite common in pets, and is often an issue with pets that stay home alone. Fido or Fluffy may really enjoy having a pal to keep them company when you’re out. It’s also just good for our furry pals to have a friend that knows their language, so to speak. Plus, you get to enjoy twice the cuteness!

Cost

One of the biggest things you’ll need to consider is cost. While some things can be shared, you will be buying more food and supplies, and footing more veterinary bills. Make sure your budget can handle these expenses.

Commitment

First and foremost, make sure that you’re ready, willing, and able to provide your new four-legged friend with love and care for the rest of their lives. Adoption is forever! If you aren’t sure if you’re ready for another pet, you may want to look into fostering. It never hurts to learn more.

Future Plans

If you are renting and/or aren’t sure where life will take you over the next few years, that’s also something to consider. Many landlords have restrictions on the breed, size, and number of pets they allow. Pet Personalities

Cats by nature take time to warm up to one another, so a meet-and-greet won’t be as useful. Just consider both kitties’ age, history, and temperaments.
