New Year's Resolutions for Dogs

January 1, 2021

Happy New Year! As we leave 2020 in the rearview mirror and move on to 2021, it’s probably safe to say that there are lots of folks thinking about their plans for the coming year. Your canine pal may also have a few things on his to-do list! A local Burlington, ON vet lists some resolutions for dogs in this article.

S core More Treats

Dogs are very, very enthusiastic about food. Fido is super cute when he knows he is getting a yummy snack! Just be sure to stick with healthy options.

Get Belly Rubs

Our canine companions are very affectionate. They also really love when we pay attention to them. For Fido, getting petted isn’t just about getting us to reach that itchy spot on his back: it also reinforces the love and friendship he feels for his human friends. Pay lots of attention to your pup, and indulge his adorable requests for attention!

Get My Bed Back From The Cat

Cats aren’t very picky about where they choose to nap, and they certainly aren’t shy about ‘borrowing’ others’ beds. Good luck with this one, buddy!

Adventures

While there are some dogs that are furry couch potatoes, many pooches really love to get out and about, and check out new places. Bring Fido to a new park or trail this year. Fresh air, activity, and sunshine are good for both of you!

Relax

Fido may not sleep quite as much as Fluffy does, but he still manages to get quite a bit of shuteye. In fact, your canine buddy can spend as much as half of his time snoozing. Make sure that your pooch has a comfy bed to snuggle up in.

Be A Good Boy

One of the many wonderful traits dogs have is the fact that they are so eager to please. Fido looks adorably proud of himself when he knows he’s behaving. (He can also look pretty cute when he’s misbehaved, but that’s another topic.)

Spend Time With The Human

Your furry friend is extremely loyal and faithful, and really just wants to spend as much time with you as possible. Help Fido make this cute goal by spending lots of quality time with him!
